Friday 12th October 2018

On the 5th of October, I attended the pitch presentation with Deborah and shortly after I decided to stick to producing a handout and using flashcards. Given my limited timeframe of only 3 minutes, I didn’t want to overcomplicate things for myself and make my life simple. I am not the best at public speaking and under pressure, I do tend to go off on a tangent. Overall, I am confident with my idea and because It’s something personal to me, I know I’m prepared for any questions.
I wanted my handout to basically summarise the important facts in case I got nervous and ran out of time, but thankfully that wasn’t the case. My handout included 3 facts I sourced from the dementia statistics website as well as, my overall aim, my confirmed and contacted interviewees and my social platform links.
The pitch itself couldn’t have done better, and as soon as it was done I looked like a Cheshire cat. What I personally wanted from my markers was advice on my documentary structure and specific programme. They seemed very impressed with my idea, interviewees and couldn’t fault it. The feedback was more than insightful and now the journey of producing my documentary begins.
