As I leave my first one to one meeting with my tutor I feel content with the progress I am making. My pitch is in 8 days but I am feeling confident with how I am going to angle my idea. My documentary has got a clear structure of what I want to achieve but in terms of progress. I only have one interview secured.
Tommy Dunne is my first confirmed interviewee, who is currently living with dementia in Liverpool. I found him using the twitter I made for the project, his bio states "Living with dementia (Alzheimer's) not suffering with it. I may not have enough time left to see a world without Dementia but, I hope to see one that accepts it." Tommy's kind soul and hopeful words are what leads me to believe that he is the perfect person to be the main voice for my documentary.
I was made aware at the fact I was trying to fit too much into 7 minutes so I have decided to focus on 3 simple points. Answering whether we can cure it in the years to come, showcasing the life of someone living with dementia and informing my audience of the different procedures or methods people turn to in hope of curing it.
I aim to answer my 3 questions with my interviewees, which considering the timeframe will be only 3 to 4 people. My next final steps are to prepare for my pitch, confirm interviews and publish my ethical considerations, as well as BBC editorial guidelines on my website.
